Forsythe Pendleton "FP" Jones II was a recurring character during Season 1 of The CW's Riverdale. He has since been promoted to series regular in Season 2. He is portrayed by Skeet Ulrich.

FP is the leader of the Southside Serpents and the father of Jughead and Jellybean Jones. During the first season, FP almost got framed for the murder of Jason Blossom after the cops found a gun in FP's trailer. It was revealed that Clifford Blossom was the one who murdered his own son in cold blood, having FP to take the fall for him so he could protect his son Jughead. Even though FP was found innocent he was still an accomplice and is still behind bars until his court trial. Due to FP's loyalty to protecting the Southside Serpents, he could be facing a lot of jail time. He told the sheriff that he's no snitch, even when the withheld information could have taken a few years off of his sentence. Jughead was rewarded as an unofficial member of the Southside Serpents due to his father's loyalty to them and was initiated and officially a member of the gang.

In the second season, it was revealed that when FP was in charge and was the leader of the Southside Serpents, he kept things under control, as he was the one who kept the peace between the Northside and the Southside, preventing bloodshed from happening. He has since been released from prison and has taken back the mantle of leader of the Serpents. However, at the end of the second season, he retired from the Southside Serpents, leaving Jughead to take the mantle as their leader.

Character Description

While his character will have a history with all of Riverdale's main residents, he holds a grudge against Fred Andrews and is the father of Jughead Jones.

Early Life

FP grew up in Riverdale and attended Riverdale High School with best friend Fred Andrews, Mary Andrews, Penelope Blossom, Alice Cooper, Hal Cooper and Hermione Lodge.

At the age of sixteen, FP's father put him out of the house and told him to go to hell. Instead, he joined the Southside Serpents, who accepted him as one of their own. Soon thereafter, he enlisted in the army. After serving his country, FP returned to Riverdale, picking up from where he left off with the Serpents.

He and Fred later went on to found a construction company together, but barely made enough to stay in business. By that time, FP married a woman named Gladys and later, the couple had their first and only son, Jughead. Approximately 5-6 years later, the couple had their second and only daughter, Jellybean. He and his wife would frequently take the kids to the Twilight Drive-In, however, they often couldn't afford tickets for everyone, so his children would hide in the trunk until they parked. While Fred married his wife and had his first and only son, Archie, to provide for, FP had his family as well as many hospital bills. Due to this, FP became involved in a string of criminal activities which would often end with him getting arrested and Fred having to bail him out. Eventually, he became too big of a liability for their company and was forced by Fred to resign.

After losing his job, FP began drinking heavily which led the Jones family to fall apart. FP's wife left him and took their daughter with her to Toledo to live with his parents-in-law, and Jughead began living out of the projection booth of the drive-in where he had found employment. FP ended up living alone at the Sunnyside Trailer Park, where he continued drinking. At an unknown point, FP became the leader of the Southside Serpents, a dangerous biker gang of thugs and criminals. During that time, FP got involved with Penny Peabody, the extent of which is currently unknown. However, at some point, a promise was made, which FP failed to keep, resulting in a bitter relationship between the two.

Season 1

A Deal with the Lodges FP and Hermione Lodge had a heated exchange of words behind a dumpster at Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe. Unbeknownst to either of them, their interaction was captured by Cheryl Blossom on her phone. It wasn't long before the two arranged another meeting, this time behind the Twilight Drive-In, on the south side of town. Hermione handed him a brown paper bag, inside of which were several stacks of cash. FP wasn't satisfied with the amount, yet with Hiram Lodge in prison, he was left with no choice but to deal with Hermione. FP and Jughead at the Drive-In booth The following morning, he approached Jughead as he tagged his name and his signature crown on the projection booth with spray paint. FP told his son that the booth would be torn down and taken to the junkyard with the rest of the drive-in, and them with it. He asked where Jughead would now be staying at the booth is no longer an option, to which Jughead replied, he'd figure it out, he always did. FP received an unexpected call from Fred Andrews, who offered him his job back, however, he turned it down. FP would later come to find out that Jughead and Archie were at the center of it all. That evening, Jughead returned home to Sunnyside Trailer Park to find that FP was a mess, and the trailer was littered with empty liquor bottles. FP refused to go back hat in hand after being fired, but his son insisted that he take the job at Andrews Construction, and work on rebuilding their family, to which FP seemingly agreed. FP and Fred at Pop's He decided to take Fred up on his offer, after being rehired, FP encountered Hermione in the office, and warned her not to reveal to Fred that he was a member of the Southside Serpents. To celebrate FP returning to work, Jughead, Archie, Fred and FP went out to Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe for dinner, where the two fathers shared stories about their younger years, such as their band "The Fred Heads", and a DW bus that they called "The Shaggin' Wagon". When it came time to pay, Fred and FP got into a slight dispute over the check, but as FP reminded Fred, it was his treat. Later that night, FP, Jughead, and Archie practiced playing music in the garage, where he complimented Archie on his guitar playing skills, saying that he was even better than his father. FP then revealed the truth behind why he was forced to resign from Andrews Construction, he took up some odd jobs in order to provide for his family, which eventually landed him in jail, Fred was kind enough to bail him out, but at that point, Fred wanted to part ways. This left FP very upset and bitter, so he began drinking. He was taken home by Jughead, and laid on the couch, where Jughead mentioned that he had spoken with Jellybean over the phone, and from her, he learned that his mother was working at a call center, and was taking online classes in the hopes of finally getting her GED. However, FP had fallen asleep long before Jughead had even finished telling him everything. Jughead and FP outside sheriff station The next morning, Jughead was brought to the Sheriff Station by Sheriff Keller as a suspect in Jason Blossom's murder. FP showed up late to the station just as Jughead was freed, thanks to Fred. FP was furious and angrily demanded to see Sheriff Keller for making accusations against his son and even lashed out at Fred, who tried in vain to calm him down. In a fit of rage, he shoved Fred and stated that Jughead was his son, and Fred would do the same for Archie. Jughead convinced him to let it go before he made the situation any worse. Before leaving, FP tearfully promised he would get his act together and that they would have their family back, but it would just take some time. Jughead looked angry and resigned as he told his father he believed him. In the end, Jughead went to live at the Andrews house. That night, it was revealed that FP was in possession of Jason Blossom's varsity jacket, which was last seen in the car on Route 40 before it was set on fire. Serpent Leader; King Cobra FP outside the Whyte wrym FP watched from the second floor of the Whyte Wyrm, as Joaquin, Archie, Kevin and Moose entered the bar. Unbeknownst to the teens, FP watched them enter and immediately called Fred. He allowed them to move forward with their plan, while keeping an eye on them from a distance. FP didn't intervene until Archie picked a fight with one of his fellow Serpents, Mustang, which nearly led to Archie taking a beating. After ordering Mustang to let Archie go, FP escorted him along with Moose and Kevin outside the bar, sending all of them home, except for "Red", in reference to Archie. FP demanded to know what his business was at the Wyrm, to which Archie explained they were searching for the two thugs that had ambushed Moose and destroyed equipment at Andrews Construction, the night before. Archie initially assumed that the attack was a result of the Serpents retaliating for getting kicked off their land, but after learning that FP was one of them, he began to think it was a personal attack against his father for firing FP years earlier. FP denied the accusation, joking that Archie had a bigger imagination than Jughead. Just as Fred arrived, FP told Archie that he held no grudges, as life was too short. Fred sent Archie to the truck, as he and FP had a chat about his recent activities. FP once again denied having any involvement in what happened to Moose and the Andrews construction equipment, he'd never do that, especially after Fred took in Jughead. Fred's troubles were greater than ever before, having neither crew nor cash, while FP was sorry for his troubles, he was sure that Fred would bounce back, he even offered to ask around, hoping that his guys would know something about the attack. FP answering Jughead's questions That night, he received a visit at the trailer park from Jughead and his girlfriend, Betty Cooper. Jughead revealed that they were aware of the drug deal that the Serpents had going on with Jason Blossom, and that the cops knew too, so if they hadn't been by to pay a visit, they would be soon. FP informed them that Jason needed money to run away, no one would suspect a clean-cut kid like Jason of running, so they had a mutually beneficial relationship. The Serpents gave him drugs, but up until his body was found at Sweetwater River, they had assumed that he took off with their stash. Jughead then asked if he had anything to do with Jason's death, in which FP admitted his fault for being a poor father, but he isn't a killer. With the cops applying heat, even later that night, he and Joaquin had to come up with a plan as FP stuffed Jason's Varsity jacket into a bag and tossed it to Joaquin, telling him to hide it in a safe place as it was their insurance in case everything went to hell. He then checked in on Joaquin's progress with Kevin, as they were going to need that inside line with Sheriff Keller. Apparently, their relationship was only a means to an end, however, Joaquin began to feel guilty as Kevin had developed genuine feelings. FP chuckled, telling him that they all had a part to play. FP at the SoDale work site The next day, he and the Serpents were first on site of the SoDale site to assist Fred with construction; he refused to leave Fred hanging again, and trouble was not an issue. FP walked off with Hermione to inform her of the recent information he had gathered, according to his guy, the thugs that attacked the site were from Montreal, and they both knew that Hiram had business there. Hiram sent his men after discovering Hermione's affair with Fred, but FP wondered who ratted her out. FP received an unexpected call from Betty, on the eve of Jughead's birthday, wondering if he would like to join them for a movie and dinner. FP came to learn that Jughead was unaware of Betty calling him if there was one thing that Jughead hated more than surprises, it was his own birthday, he never even had a party, thought that was because he never wanted one. FP thought it best if he kept his distance, that would be the best gift he could give to his son. Much to FP's surprise, this would not be the last he heard of Betty, the second time around she showed up in person, insisting that he join them for the small party they were going to have at Archie's house. Betty wanted to do something special for Jughead, and she believed his presence would be special, realizing that she would not let up, FP agreed to attend Jughead's party. FP arriving to Jughead's party The following night, as promised, he came to the party, only to discover that it was a wild house party and that he was the only adult in attendance. Gift in hand, he entered the garage to find Jughead and Archie conversing, before leaving to put the gift in the den, he commented that Betty invited him and that she knows what she wants. In the kitchen. He found Joaquin and Kevin in the middle of a heated make out session, "you could cut the sexual tension in here with a knife", he said. He then reminisced about the time he kicked Kevin out of the Whyte Wyrm, before making an excuse for Joaquin to guide him to the bathroom in order for the two of them to talk privately. His son's birthday party was the last place he expected to see Joaquin, fortunately, while there, he had gathered some information pertaining to Hiram Lodge, whose daughter was also at the party, and had earlier mentioned the possibility of her father being involved in Jason Blossom's Death. This was unwelcomed news considering FP and Hiram had businesses together. He wondered how much Sheriff Keller knew of this, to which Joaquin explained that he would find out through Kevin. Unbeknownst to either of them that they were being watched from the next house over by Alice Cooper. FP confronting Alice Downstairs, FP kept quiet and watched as the teens played a game called "Secrets & Sins", in which they would reveal their own secrets, however, the game quickly escalated as punches were traded between Jughead and another party-goer named Chuck Clayton. FP grabbed Chuck by his shirt, and threw him out the house, along with everyone else, as he declared the party was over. He confronted Jughead as he attempted to leave the house, FP wanted him to man up, and talk to Betty, running away is never the solution. FP saw that Jughead had a good thing going with Betty and his friends, something he could never give his son. As he proceeded towards his truck, FP was approached by Alice, who demanded to know what he was doing on her side of town, to which FP responded that Alice may not live on the south side anymore, and she may not dress like she's from the south side, but they both knew the truth, snakes don't shed their skin so easily. FP then remarked that Alice was still hot, but sadly, she was a stick-in-the-mud. Framed for Murder It would appear that FP had finally started to get his act together, at the trailer, much to Jughead's surprise, he had not only cleaned up himself, but the trailer as well. FP even read Jughead's story that he'd been working on, surrounding Jason Blossom's Death, and complimented him on his well-written manuscript. However, he did have a couple concerns, he questioned why his son wanted to write about a dead kid when there were so many other topics, but as Jughead explained, it was more like Jason picked him to tell the story no one else was going to tell. Jughead and Betty had gotten pretty deep into the case, leading FP to wonder who they thought killed Jason, but for Jughead it was less about who did it, and more about whether Riverdale was a place a place of good, or darkness and evil. FP claimed that most things are both, then suggesting that Jughead should move on at a certain point, he can't allow this story to be the only one he told. Jughead and FP having dinner with the Coopers Jughead and FP were invited to a pre-Homecoming dinner by Alice Cooper, in hopes that the two families could become better acquainted, at least that's what she told them. During the dinner, Alice began interrogating FP about his involvement with the Southside Serpents and his spotty work history, which also included his work with Hiram Lodge and the Twilight Drive-In. Betty's father, Hal Cooper soon arrived at the scene, at which point it became wildly uncomfortable, and as Alice started grilling Hal, FP decided to revisit the past, to spill some dark secrets surrounding their homecoming back in the day. He revealed that Alice and Hal were Homecoming King and Queen, he also commented that who remembered hearing the couple had a terrible fight about something that night, he didn't know what it was but it sounded serious. Alice instructed him to shut up, to which he agreed to do, but only if she stopped trying to insult him in front of his son. FP didn't attend the dance that night, but he did drop Betty and Jughead off, but not before having a brief chat with Jughead about their future plans, which involved getting the family back together and moving to Toledo. FP returned home, unbeknownst to him, the trailer had earlier been searched by Archie and Veronica when he was at the dinner. A little later that night, following an anonymous tip, Sheriff Keller was at his doorstep with a search warrant. Sheriff Keller searched the entire trailer until he found the gun that killed Jason Blossom hidden in a lockbox in his closet. FP was then accused of and arrested for the murder of Jason Blossom, however, the weapon did not belong to FP. According to Archie and Veronica, the gun was not there when they searched, meaning someone came in after them to frame FP. FP being interrogated by the Sheriff While under interrogation from Sheriff Keller down at the station, FP learned that the gun in his trailer was a direct match to the bullet that killed Jason Blossom. FP confessed that last summer he was approached by some red-haired kid outside the Whyte Wyrm, who was looking to skip town with his pregnant girlfriend, Polly, but he first needed money and a ride. FP offered him a deal: in exchange for delivering an unspecified amount of drugs for him, he would pay Jason and provide him with a getaway vehicle. However, at some point, FP realized that he was the son of Cliff Blossom and this led him to wonder why a rich kid like Jason would ever need someone like him, and that's when Jason told FP his plan. On July 4th, Jason's sister would row him out to Sweetwater River, tip the boat, and say that Jason drowned. FP stashing Jason's body Once Jason made it to the other side of the river that fateful morning, FP grabbed him, and tied Jason up in the basement of the Wyrm. From there, FP worked on his plan in which he would get word to Clifford that his son was still alive, and demand ransom money for his safe return. Before he could get word out, FP claimed that Jason got loose, so he killed the kid before he could escape, and stuffed him in the freezer. Once the police were done dragging Sweetwater for Jason's body, FP decided to dump it there, the one place that had already been checked. He also admitted to breaking into the Sheriff's house, stealing the case evidence, and even setting fire to Jason's car out on the highway off Route 40. However, it was later revealed that parts of his confession were false, and that it was another Serpent named Mustang who had kidnapped and tormented Jason Blossom. After confessing, he used his one call to contact Joaquin, and tell him that their contingency plan was off, it was too dangerous. The next morning, as he sat behind the bars of a cell at the police station, FP received a visit from Jughead, who told him that when he and Archie first came together with their plan to help him get back on his feet, Jughead knew it was a mistake. But when FP had finally begun to clean himself up, it was the happiest Jughead had been in so long, he was even interested in the manuscript, which Jughead then realized was just a ploy to make sure his son wasn't on to him. Jughead also accused him of trying to run away when he suggested they move to Toledo, FP exclaimed that he did what he had to do, what he always does, and he's only sorry that he got caught. He then told Jughead to never come back. FP sitting behind bars Unbeknownst to FP at the time, Joaquin had informed Sheriff Keller's son of their contingency plan involving Jason's varsity jacket, which he had deemed as being too dangerous. However, it wasn't the jacket itself that was dangerous, it was the USB flash drive hidden inside the lining that was as dangerous, as it contained surveillance video of Jason Blossom's murder. As he sat in that cell, Jughead, Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Kevin would go on to watch the video, as would Alice, Sheriff Keller and Mayor McCoy, all of whom learning the truth behind the death of Jason Blossom, that was he killed by his own father. It would come to be revealed that the reason for FP's false confession was due to a threat that he had earlier received from Cliff, in which he would kill Jughead if FP told the truth about what happened. Although FP would be cleared of the murder charges, he was far from free as there were several other charges he had to deal with, everything from tampering with evidence to perjury. Despite the recent discovery that Clifford Blossom was not only responsible for the murder of his own son, Jason Blossom, but that he was also trafficking drugs into Riverdale, FP remained in his cell with a number of charges hanging over him. Clifford was a Kingpin, but what Sheriff Keller and Mayor McCoy cared about was the local component of his dealings, mostly on the south side, but it started making its way across the tracks, so they believed the Serpents were involved. If FP was willing to give up the names of those dealing the drugs, Sheriff Keller, Mayor McCoy and the District's Attorney would consider granting him a lesser sentence for his involvement in the murder. FP explained that the Serpents didn't deal large sums of drugs, only dime bags of weed, and even if they did, FP wouldn't tell Sheriff Keller anything as he's not a snitch. If FP didn't cooperate, he was looking at twenty years in a federal penitentiary. FP talking to Archie about Jughead The following day, FP received a surprise visit from Archie, who informed him that Jughead was being forced to move in with a foster family on the south side, and consequently, he'd have to transfer to Southside High. While it tore him up inside to see Jughead suffer because of his actions, he could not give up the Serpents, they were his tribe, and they were also innocent, not that anyone in town cared, but Archie corrected him by saying they cared. When the time comes, FP believed the Serpents would stand up, you don't betray those who have your back, FP said. Jughead was a tough and scrappy kid, he'd make it, especially with Archie looking after him. FP explained that Jughead would try to pull away by disappearing into himself, but that's precisely why Jughead needed Archie and Betty to stick with him no matter what. Jughead paid him a visit the subsequent night. He had been sent in there by Sheriff Keller, who was hoping that Jughead could convince FP to give up the names of the drug dealing Serpents. FP had been sweating it out, but he came to the conclusion that both options sucked. FP inquired about Southside High, which Jughead stated as being no different than any other high school, so he'd survive. FP explained that while he was more innocent than he was guilty, he had done a number of horrible things, and he would eventually have to answer for those actions. He didn't know what would happen once the case was taken to trial but Jughead needed to be there for his mother and Jellybean. He then patted Jughead on his head, and sent him on his way.

Season 2

The Court Trial FP speaking to his attorney At the Sheriff Station, seated in the interrogation room, FP spoke to his attorney, while Jughead kept him company to listen in on what his attorney had to say about his father's case. Jughead paced back and forth as the attorney lay a list of the charges that FP was facing: FP was charged for Arson, destruction of evidence, making a false confession, obstructing justice, while also having to deal with the fact that he dumped a dead kids body in the river. FP stated to his attorney that he was aware of his actions for what he had done. Fortunately, he was being offered a deal. The lawyer advised FP that he should take the deal, as this is a strong deal considering how long he's been on the job. How many years, Jughead wonders, to which the lawyer explains that he could be facing twenty. However, if FP refused their offer, and his case goes to trial, FP could be facing 40 years in prison instead. FP and his attorney in the court room The following day, during FP's court trial, Cheryl was called to the stand to give her statement after coercion from Betty, as, according to Penny Peabody, it would immensely help in FP's case if the family forgave FP for what he had done, allowing FP to serve a less harsh sentence. Cheryl stated, speaking on behalf of herself and her mother, that they forgave FP for the part that he had played in covering up her brother's murder, and they humbly ask the court for leniency. FP was seated beside his attorney, surprised to hear those words come out of Cheryl's mouth. Cheryl looked towards FP, as she continued to tell the Judge, that FP's guilt had been blown out of proportion to satiate what her father's suicide denied them. which was closure. However, as much as the judge sympathized, he couldn't ignore the quality of FP's crimes. There were no extenuating circumstances to his account. After making a brief eye contact with Betty, Cheryl blurted out "My father threatened him". Cheryl claimed to have overheard them talking, and her father said he would hurt Jughead if FP didn't comply. Is that extenuating enough, Cheryl asked. In light of these revelations, the judge suggested that they take a step back and reevaluate certain aspects of the case. At which time, they will revisit the sentencing. Thanks to Cheryl, a delay in FP's case was ordered. His son, Jughead, placed his hand on FP's shoulder after the court was dismissed. When FP asked Jughead if it was a win for them, Jughead confirmed that it was, to which they embraced each other with tears of joy. FP warning Jughead to stay away from Penny Peabody Later, back at the trailer, where Jughead was making dinner for himself, he received a phone call from his father. It had come to FP's attention that Jughead had gone to see Penny Peabody, and he was clearly upset by this revelation. Confused by this, Jughead replied that he didn't have a choice, and asked him if there was something wrong. Worried, FP then asked if he paid her, which he hadn't because she said it was a favor. FP warned Jughead against contacting Penny ever again as he did not want to be in bed with the Snake Charmer. Advice from Behind Bars Jughead and Archie seeking out advice from FP While in prison, FP received a surprise visit from Archie and Jughead, who were seeking out advice on what to do with there current dilemma involving the Ghoulies, a rival Southside gang. As displeased as FP was with learning that Jughead joined the Southside Serpents, he seemed more displeased with the fact that Tall Boy, his right-hand man, had betrayed him by setting up an alliance with the Ghoulies. In a fit of frustration, FP banged the phone up against the glass, then telling the boys that while Ghoulies dressed like fops, they were a nasty crew. Fortunately, the Serpents had survived much worse. However, Jughead and Archie needed to overcome the obstacle of being greatly outnumbered, meaning they had to avoid bloodshed at all cost by out-thinking them. The one thing Ghoulies loved above all else was there souped-up retro cars and hearses. "You catch my Riverdale drift, boys?", FP asked. He suggested that Jughead and Archie challenge the Ghoulies to a one-on-one street race, but to keep it quiet or else they'd be arrested for street racing. Set the terms of the race, FP said. If the Ghoulies won, the Serpents would surrender, but if the Serpents won, the Ghoulies would have to stand down. Raising the stakes of the race, whoever won would gain control of Southside High. In doing so, they could bring an end to their troubles with the Ghoulies, the Jingle Jangle, and Mayor McCoy. When Jughead met with Penny Peabody earlier in the day, she revealed that FP had a supposed "altercation" with the Ghoulies in the prison showers the other day. This was due to the stunt that he and "that Northsider" pulled at the race. FP received a brief visit from Jughead early that morning, during which time, he grew concerned with Jughead as he looked like he had seen a ghost. Jughead looked him over in silence and realized that Penny lied about FP being in infirmary due to Jughead's issues with the Ghoulies and their subsequent retaliation on FP. It was later revealed that the purpose of the lie was to incentivize Jughead to do the drug trade. Prison Release FP's first meal at Pop's after his release from prison The day for FP's release from prison had finally come. He exited the prison to the sight of Jughead, Betty, and Alice awaiting his arrival just outside the fence. He was greeted with a hug by Jughead. Alice then asked if what they said about men who had just been released from prison was true, that they were incredibly sexually frustrated. The four of them then got into Alice's station wagon, and headed down to Pop's, where FP had his first meal as a free man. With the Black Hood targeting sinners, especially those who associate themselves with hoodlums like the Southside Serpents, Alice advised FP to watch his back. Much to everyone's surprise, FP revealed that he wouldn't be going back to the Serpents. It was a decision that he had plenty of time to think over while locked up. That lifestyle was too much of a slippery slope, so it would be one last ride for him and Jughead. As for the extra time, he would have due to no longer running the Serpents, FP planned to get a job at the diner, as he had seen a help wanted sign in the window. Alice remarked that they should hope that his plans didn't come crashing down when he inevitably began drinking again. However, as FP informed her, he was in AA, which he started in jail, and didn't plan on stopping. FP having a chat with his son Jughead Later, FP and Jughead road their motorcycles along the coastline of Riverdale. They parked off-road, where they looked off into the nearby forest and discussed the difficulties Jughead faced while he was away. Things got out of control while FP was incarcerated, leaving Jughead to often question what he would do in certain predicaments. FP asked Jughead if Penny had bothered him considering that she was most likely the one responsible for his release. Jughead claimed that he did a job for her, and considering that it was a one time deal, he didn't ask too many questions. Though Jughead insisted that they were squared away. FP revealed to Jughead that when he was sixteen, his father kicked him out and told him to go to hell. Instead, he joined the Serpents, and then the Army, but only to return, and pick up where he left off with the Serpents. FP didn't want Jughead to follow in his footstep. He would much rather Jughead go to college in order to get out of town. However, Jughead didn't wish to leave, and he wanted his father's blessing in staying, reasoning that he ran the gauntlet, and fought with and for the Serpents. FP was only willing to grant Jughead his blessing so long as he promised to keep writing, which Jughead agreed to. In fact, he had been doing so every day. FP's first shift at Pop's During one of his first shifts at Pop's, as their newly hired busboy, FP was belittled by Cheryl Blossom, who intentionally knocked over her milkshake, and demanded that he clean it up, like he did with her brother's blood. This caught, Jughead's, Betty's, and Josie's attention, though FP urged Jughead not to get involved. He then bent down to not only clean up Cheryl's mess, but give her a replacement milkshake, on the house. It was this incident that motivated Betty and Jughead into throwing FP a retirement party, fit for a king. Later that night, as they returned to the trailer, FP learned of the party that Jughead and Betty were organizing in his honor. However, he refused to attend given that he was trying to keep the Serpents in his past. Though Jughead managed to persuade him into attending, stating that it was merely a one-night event that he deserved considering that he had done right by them. Now it was their time to do right by him, as this particular era came to an end. As they sat down to eat, Jughead got a call from Archie, and headed into the back where he could talk privately. FP and Alice talking about their past together as Serpents The next day, as he worked another shift at Pop's, Alice came storming into the diner irate. With Betty not listening to her, she thought it best to warn FP that if Betty even thought about putting on a Serpents jacket, she would have FP's head. Alice wouldn't stand for their children making the same mistakes that they'd made in their adolescence. They weren't all mistakes, FP remarked. Clearly, they had varying views on their past with one another. He insisted that Alice come to his retirement party. Are you high on fumes, she asked. Alice didn't believe that it was a good idea for her to attend the party, however, FP would beg to differ. He told her that she could chaperone to make sure that everything was appropriate and even say hi to some old friends. Hal would never come, Alice stated. Leave him at home, FP replied. FP's Speech to the Serpents That night, FP arrived at the Whyte Wyrm for his party just in time to escort Betty off stage after she had stripped down to her black lingerie and performed the "Serpent dance" for the crowd, which was a Serpent tradition of initiation for its female members. He covered Betty with his jacket, then giving her a round of applause, while encouraging the crowd to do the same, asking that they show her the Serpent hospitality that they're known for. FP then gave a speech, stating that he had been in and out of the Serpents since he was younger than Jughead, and it had been a wild ride with both good times and bad times. However, through it all, the Serpents stuck by his side when no one else would, his own family included. The letter of the law said that he wasn't allowed in the Serpents den nor was he allowed to associate with his fellow Serpents, who he referred to as his real friends and family. To that, FP said that "it'll be a cold day in hell before a snake lets a pig tell him what to do". The Northside wanted him out of the gang. Unfortunately for them, they'd have to bring a coffin because FP had decided against retiring. He refused to go gently, encouraging the Northside to come at him with their best. FP telling Jughead he knows about his deal with the Snake Charmer immediately following his speech, FP got off stage and approached Jughead, who heard the entire thing, and was left to wonder what had happened to FP's plans of retirement. FP gave his son a hug, whispering in his ear that he knew about Jughead's deal with the Snake Charmer; how he made a delivery for her in Greendale and how he had yet to repay the debt he owed her. This was the one thing that FP had asked Jughead not to do. Jughead asked that he be given the opportunity to fix his screw up, but it was too late. He was out and FP was in. From that moment forward, Penny was his problem. FP then informed Jughead that he broke his heart. They were then joined by Tall Boy, Sweet Pea, and the other Serpents, who all took shots in his honor. "Hail to the king", they said. Spellbound by the Snake-Charmer FP continued with its plan to handle Peabody's blackmail to deal drugs, ordering Jughead to stay out of it during an argument over breakfast. The conversation was interrupted by Tall Boy arriving at the Jones' trailer with a bag that FP instructed to bring to the other room. When Jughead asked Tall Boy what was in the bag, FP raised his voice with his son, telling him to mind his own business and go to school. FP ordering Jughead to stay away from the drugs deliverings Later in the morning, FP was annoyed in seeing Jughead at the Whyte Wyrm instead of school and denied his son permission to join him and Tall Boy during a delivering. As Jughead tried to convince him, FP told Sweet Pea to go with them and they left the room, leaving his son speechless. Back after a long day of work, FP had another discussion with Jughead when the latter told him that Jack Walsh, FP's parole officer, paid a visit while FP was away. Tired of listening to Jughead's ruminations about Serpents trafficking drugs for Penny, FP opened the bag that Tall Boy brought that morning, revealing Christmas boxes. Initially, Jughead thought they were stuffed with drugs, but FP clarified they were Christmas gifts for Jughead, his mom and his sister, Jellybean they could give them in person by driving to Toledo for Christmas. Despite FP's good intentions, Jughead continued to ask him questions about handling Penny's requests. Exasperated, FP raised his voice again. FP told his son that them living together wasn't working out and that it was probably best if Jughead went back living with the Andrews or asked Betty to let him stay at her house. While Jughead tried to explain that he only wanted to help to fix the mess he made, FP claimed that they were trapped and that he would do anything Penny ordered for as long as necessary, even being Penny's dancing monkey for the time being. The discussion ended with FP going to get some rest, as a long night of work awaited him. FP and Jughead unwrapping Christmas gifts When FP returned to the trailer late at night, Jughead revealed him that he got rid of Penny and for this reason, she didn't show up at the meeting with FP. Father and son immediately started shouting at each other, with FP criticizing his son's recklessness. Dropping on the couch with his head in his hands, FP listened to Jughead's rant about how he was proud of being a Serpent and how he had been so persuasive in gathering the young serpents and getting rid of Penny once and for all. FP had no choice but to watch his son, stunned. On Christmas morning, FP and Jughead unwrapped their presents and FP advised his son to swing by the Cooper house to thank Betty in person for giving him a vintage typewriter. Keeping a Low Profile After the Christmas Holidays, FP and Jughead were at Pop's, talking about the nonsense of an alleged meth lab discovered at Southside High, which led Mayor McCoy and the Sheriff Department to close the school. According to Jughead, it was a clear example of Northsiders blaming Southside Serpents of imaginary crimes. FP laughed at Jughead's conspiracy theories, stating that there was another reason why Jughead did not want to go back to Riverdale High School; a reason had just "walked through the door". In fact, Betty had just arrived at the diner to meet Jughead, and FP returned to his job, leaving the two kids alone. FP giving Jughead some important advices A few days later, FP entered the Whyte Wyrm furiously, telling Jughead that if he broke the video game, he would repay it. Actually, FP was angry with his son for missing school. When Jughead admitted that he had been suspended for transgressing Weatherbee's school regulation which, according to Jughead, was biased against the Serpents. FP laughed at his son's naïve devotion to the gang. After all, leather jackets were simple jackets and were not made for school. FP noted that there had to be a more serious reason for his son's discomfort (which turned out to be the lack of a place all of their own) and told him not to get stuck on petty details. Neither did he love cleaning tables and toilets at Pop's, but that was what he had to do, just as going to Riverdale High was what Jughead had to do. FP went on to give another precious advice to his son: just because they kept a low profile, it did not mean that he had to stop being a Serpent. Standing up for the Southside FP, wearing his job uniform, was drinking a cup of coffee at the kitchen table of his trailer when Sheriff Keller came to investigate the theft of General Pickens' head. Both Jughead and FP said, for the umpteenth time that they had nothing to do with the matter and that the investigations seemed very much a pretext to go after the Serpents. The sheriff pointed out Jughead's article on the Blue and Gold as a motive for the act of vandalism, but Jughead's quick sneaky replies that put an end to the discussion made FP laugh. FP avoiding a fight between Jughead and Tall Boy due to their disputes Some time later, when Mayor McCoy issued a warrant of eviction on Sunnyside Trailer Park, FP held a meeting at the Whyte Wyrm to deal with the situation. Standing on the stage with the Serpents gathered before him, he promised them that none of them would be evicted. But the heat's been on them since Pickens Day and the Northsiders were using the statue as an excuse to turn it up. If he was going to fix it he needed to know if one of them was responsible for cutting off Pickens' head. Tall Boy stepped forward, accusing Jughead, Toni Topaz, Sweet Pea and the rest of their "posse" of triggering the Northsiders with their pointless protest and the article. Jughead and Tall Boy nearly came to blows, if FP had not interposed between them to avoid the worst-case scenario. In fact, FP advised the Serpents that the last thing they needed was turning against each other. Penny showing her wounded arm to FP A few evenings later, FP held an extraordinary meeting at the Whyte Wyrm with a few members, interrupted by Jughead who could not believe his eyes: Penny Peabody had returned to town, accusing Jughead of breaking Serpents' Laws, cutting her tattoo from her arm and leaving her in a ditch in Greendale. FP listened carefully to Penny's reason, backed by Tall Boy. The Snake Charmer, then, gave some advice on how to bypass the eviction notices asking for a payment to be welcomed again in the gang, and Jughead to be kicked out from it. She also wanted to cut off Jughead's tattoo with a dirty knife. FP arguing with Jughead Back at the trailer, FP and Jughead had a heated discussion after FP said there would be a vote: Jughead vs Penny Peabody. FP couldn't believe that his own son had mutilated a woman, even if it was a cobra like Penny. FP was seriously concerned, saying that there was no coming back from such things, but Jughead fought back, reminding FP about his role in Jason Blossom's murder. FP, then, grabbed his son by the collar of his jacket, slamming him against the wall and accusing him of being responsible for what was happening due to the newspaper article that had triggered an already very tense situation. While he assumed Jughead believed he was a hero given his recent bravado attitude, FP told him that he would be the death of the Serpents. The Serpents vote to kick Tall Boy out A few days later, FP showed up at the Whyte Wyrm along with Betty and Jughead. The two kids had found General Pickens statue's head. Their research pointed out to Tall Boy as a culprit having been seen by a witness while he dumped it. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts by Jughead, FP managed to get a confession: Tall Boy had made a deal with Hiram Lodge, causing a mutiny among the Serpents to get rid of both Jughead and FP, thus becoming the leader of the gang with Penny. FP asked a vote to the bystander Serpents members, who voted to strip Tall Boy of his jacket and exile him. FP returned to the trailer, happy to tell Jughead that Tall Boy won't be coming back anytime soon. FP then said that riding back, he was thinking that maybe he should take a page from Jughead's book and have a sit-down with Mayor McCoy, showing her the severed head of General Pickens' statue and appealing to her sense of justice now that they knew Hiram Lodge was responsible for what happened to the statue. However, noting that the head had disappeared from the table, FP asked Jughead for an explanation. FP and Jughead discussing the terms of the deal with Hiram Lodge Some time later, FP and Jughead received Hiram and Veronica Lodge at the trailer, where Hiram thanked him to sit down and discuss the head misunderstanding. FP quickly replied that there was no misunderstanding. In fact, FP reminded him that Tall Boy said you paid him to decapitate the Pickens statue as an excuse to turn up the heat on the Serpents. FP then explained that Hiram got a lot of nervous people scared they're gonna lose their home. Hiram exculpated himself from it, saying they have already spoken with Mayor McCoy, and offered to settle any back rent you owe or your neighbors the town as a gesture of goodwill to the Southside community. FP was willing to accept the deal, but when Hiram asked Jughead to keep his name out of his article, Jughead claimed that it sounded like a bribe, and the Jones boys called themselves out of the deal, with FP saying to Hiram "See you in the funny pages" while protectively putting his arm around his son's shoulders, and smiling at the men who just tried to buy them. FP burying the Shady Man in the woods A few evenings later, FP invited Alice and Betty Cooper in his trailer after Jughead had told him about the recent murder committed at Cooper house. FP told Alice to spare him her excuses, and that he would agree to help them to avoid repeating the same mistakes he had made with Jason Blossom. After digging a sufficiently deep pit in the woods, FP threw the corpse of the Shady Man wrapped in a plastic sheet in it before covering him with some chemical material. FP reassuring Alice Joining Alice, Betty, and Jughead at Pop's, FP sat down with them. Jughead said him that he reeked, to which FP explained that it was sodium hydroxide he had used on the corpse and that in a week, there was nothing left of him; not even his teeth. Alice thanked him for his help with tearful eyes, apologizing for having involved Betty and Jughead in it as well. FP held her hand, saying that the Serpents take care of their own, adding that there would be no more loose ends, putting the story behind their back by closing the circle. FP and Jughead discussing eviction notices At the trailer, FP and Jughead discussed the eviction notices that were forcing them out of the trailer park and Hiram Lodge's vendetta against the Southside. Jughead was convinced that Hiram was planning something that would drastically impact Riverdale. The following day, while celebrating with the Serpents, FP called Jughead from the trailer to inform him that the eviction notices had been revoked and the back rent was paid in full by Hiram Lodge, meaning that no one had to move out. FP concluded that Jughead's article shamed Hiram into allowing them to stay. FP returned home after the night shift at Pop's, and found Jughead studying newspaper clippings and clues about Hiram Lodge's alleged illegal activities on a map of Riverdale hanging on the wall. FP told his son to stop it since Hiram Lodge had just extinguished their debts and saved the Sunnyside Trailer Park but when Jughead said that Hiram had just bought The Register, probably in an attempt to silence the press and divert public attention from his activities, FP sat at the table and listened to his son's theories. FP confessing he worked for Hiram once A few evenings later, FP and Jughead were talking again about Hiram Lodge's plans. Jughead was complaining that Hiram was always two steps ahead of him, and FP replied that Hiram was playing and winning on that game since before Jughead was born to which Jughead claimed that this was possible because Hiram was playing dirty. Unable to endure seeing his son groped in the dark, FP sat by his side on the couch and revealed to him that Hiram had asked him and other Serpents to destroy the Twilight Drive-In so he could've been able to buy it at a lower price, and that they accepted the job. FP reassured Jughead that although he had agreed to work for Hiram in the past, was also willing to sign a confession just to help Jughead to bring Hiram down. The conversation was interrupted by a phone call and Jughead went out, stating that FP should not confess anything for now before closing the door behind. FP sat in the dim light of the room, visibly shaken at having disappointed his son with his behavior by working for Hiram Lodge. During the night shift at Pop's, FP was informed by Jughead that Hiram Lodge's master plan had something to do with his old stomping ground, Shankshaw. Jughead said that he had tried calling the warden a dozen times but he has not called him back. FP suggested trying to contact War Baby, as he was aware of everybody's business. FP and Jughead visiting War Baby in prison Later, FP and Jughead visited War Baby at the penitentiary. War Baby asked FP if he wanted him to knock some heads in prison for him, but FP replied that they needed intel and if he heard about anything major going on behind the scenes about Hiram Lodge. Next evening, FP and Jughead stood outside Town Hall along with the rest of the town as the Lodges held a press conference to announce their plans for SoDale and that Hermione Lodge would be running for Mayor. FP and other Serpents stood near Southside High to keep an eye on his son Jughead and the other young snakes chained to the school's entrance, protesting against Hiram Lodge's SoDale project to turn the school into a prison. FP and Jughead outside That night, FP joined Jughead outside Southside High offering burgers from Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe despite their hunger strikes. Finding Jughead alone as the others went to warm up, FP said he could have all the burgers and that he won't say a word. Several burgers later, FP said to his son that he got a call from Hiram Lodge, who offered them a penthouse upon SoDale's completion should Jughead desist with his protest. However, Jughead could hardly imagine himself standing on a penthouse balcony, looking over a prison where he and his friends once attended school. And then there was Jellybean, who'd grow up in a town where her best hope, other than leaving Riverdale, would be to work in a prison. He couldn't see that for them. FP nodded at his son's speech. FP threatening Archie Next morning, FP and other Southsiders were gathered in front of Southside High, showing their support when Archie Andrews and the wrestling team showed up to put an end to the protest. FP stepped between Archie and Jughead, telling Archie that cops may let him by but since he came there acting like a big man, he will knock you down. Frightened that this would give an excuse to arrest his father, Jughead allowed Archie to break the chains because now everybody knew about Hiram's plans and the fight was far from over. Rekindling the Falice Flame FP advising Alice FP was sitting in the crowd at the hall meeting at Riverdale High School were students candidate to become study body president presented their programs to their schoolmates and their parents. At the end of the meeting, he and Alice had a brief discussion; Alice told him that he should be ashamed to allow her "innocent daughter" to live in their trailer. FP called her out on this, saying he was sleeping on a pull-out sofa with Jughead to leave his bedroom to Betty. FP's also adviced her to clarify things with Betty before it was too late since he knew what it was like to have a son who preferred to sleep on the street rather than in his father's house. Once at home, FP received a phone call from Alice informing him that the TV news said the police had found the Shady Man 's car. FP immediately told Jughead and Betty to switch on the TV. FP and Alice at Pop's Next morning, FP met with Alice, Betty and Jughead at Pop's to discuss what to do next. Jughead blamed himself but FP said they couldn't know that Junkyard Steve drags the swamp for people's castoffs. He also asked why Chic wasn't there since he was the one who killed the man, but Alice said not to worry about him. Much to her surprise, Betty agreed with her because Chic had nothing to do with the car. As soon as Sheriff Keller entered the diner, FP advised acting normal as if they have nothing to do with the car. Alice backed him up, telling Betty to come home but her daughter refused to be manipulated. FP and Alice scolding the kids A couple of days later at the Jones' trailer, FP stood quietly as Alice scolded both Betty and Jughead for asking Kevin questions about the police investigation. Betty and Jughead revealed that they discovered the car was stolen and Chic said that the Shady Man - whose real name was Dwayne - always used his girlfriend's car. When Betty said the woman who called Dwayne on the phone didn't sound much in love with him, Chic confirmed the possibility it was Darla. Alice asked Chic if they had to worry about the woman, but Chic replied that he did not know her very well. When Betty took advantage of the situation for bickering with Chic, Alice scolded her, saying she was coming home with them. She also threatened FP to team with her otherwise she'd tear the trailer apart with her bare hands. She then helped Betty packing her stuff. A few days later, FP received a visit from Alice at the trailer. FP watching Alice and Hal's reconciliation FP was working the nightshift at Pop's when Alice visited to tell him that she was cast in the school's musical and to ask if he would be stopping by to see her. However, FP wasn't really interested and barely paid her attention upsetting Alice, who pointed out that he was just behaving like during their youth, ignoring her when she showed interest in him. Before leaving, Alice told him she afraid that their kids were going to make the same mistakes that they did, but as it turns out, it's her and FP making the same mistakes. FP stood watching her leaving before going back cleaning tables. On the opening night, FP arrived at school shortly after Hermione Lodge only to find that Alice and Hal have made up. Seeing this, he leaves the play. The town gathered at Midge Klump's funeral to pay respect and FP was standing near Jughead during the commemoration. FP discovering about his dead child Sometime later, FP was spending time at the trailer when Alice showed up at his house completely upset. FP tried to comfort her, who, between tears and sobs, tried to explain what had happened, apologizing repeatedly for killing their child. FP was speechless and tried to find a logical sense in Alice's rambling. Finally, he discovered not only that he was the biological father of Alice's son but also that Chic was an impostor and that the real son of Alice was dead. While Alice blamed herself for his death because she had given him up for adoption and failed to protect him, FP took the situation in his hands and the two headed to Cooper house. As soon as they got home, FP asked Betty where Jughead was and immediately rushed to the basement where he forcibly removed his son from Chic, preventing Jughead from continuing to punch Chic while he was tied to a chair with duct tape. FP reasoning with Jughead FP dragged Jughead out of the house, saying he could not allow Jughead to cross the line and live with remorse, as happened to him after Jason Blossom's death. Despite Jughead's claiming they had to save Betty and Alice from Chic, FP reminded him that it was not their fight and that it was up to the Cooper girls to take a decision, and they would respect it and helped them. Uneasy lies the Serpent King FP and Jughead discusses Fangs' predicament At Pop's, FP learns from Jughead that Sheriff Minetta won't give him back his footage from the Musical as he wants to go through it frame-by-frame. FP worries that it'll only be a matter of time before he puts the pieces together and brings Fangs in. If Fangs runs, he'll look guilty, if he gets caught withholding the truth, he'll look like the killer. It's the perfect storm. The Lodge's endorse Sheriff Minetta and they want Midge's killer caught. If it's a Southsider, so much the better. So the Serpents have no choice but to prepare for a fight. FP calls Joaquin back to Riverdale FP calls Joaquin to help Fangs “disappear” to San Junipero. Jughead arrives at the trailer sees Joaquin and then leaves with FP again. As he and the junior serpents lead Fangs out of the sheriff station through an extremely angry mob Reggie approaches the with a gun, however Archie tackles Reggie to the ground and as they fight over the gun, it unintentionally goes off and hits Fangs in the abdomen. FP, Toni, Jughead and Sweet Pea tend to Fangs as he lays on the ground bleeding. FP and Jughead bring Fangs to the hospital FP and Jughead carry a wounded Fangs into Riverdale General Hospital. When the nurse dismisses him, Jughead demands that Fangs receive medical attention, and that he does as Dr. Masters takes over. After putting Fangs on a gurney and seeing him off, Jughead sets his sights on finding Fangs' shooter. However, FP convinces him otherwise. While he too wants justice for Fangs, they first have to talk to his family as that's part of being a leader. Not to mention the rioting occurring within town. However, given Fangs' condition, Jughead begins to question his leadership. Jughead and FP vs the Sheriff While Fangs is in surgery, Sheriff Minetta explain to FP and Jughead that he'd like to talk to Fangs when he wakes up. Jughead questions why the Sheriff isn't searching the streets for Fangs' shooter, to which the Sheriff replies that he has already issued a manhunt. However, the Serpents aren't making things easy with their rioting and terrorizing of the neighborhood. A few of them have already been arrested. FP interjects that the Serpents wouldn't be rioting and Fangs would've have been shot if the Sheriff had done his job in the first place. While Sheriff Minetta doesn't know the details of FP's parole, he remarks that harassing an officer would certainly violate it. FP calls Betty With Jughead gone, FP calls Betty to ask if she's heard from him, which she hasn't. If she comes across him, FP asks that Betty tell Jughead that he's looking for him. FP then mentions that Hal was brought into the emergency room. He was badly wounded. FP, Fred and Tom Keller arrive at Pop's after learning from Jughead that the Ghoulies were terrorizing the shoppe. The Ghoulies scatter as they arrive with a shotgun in hand. Afterward, the entire diner applauds FP, Fred, and Tom for their heroic actions in sending the Ghoulies running. FP signals for war with the Ghoulies FP arrives at the Whyte Wyrm to find Jughead and Sweet Pea in disagreement with how best to handle the Ghoulies. Sweet Pea would prefer to go to war while Jughead would rather prevent any bloodshed. FP quickly brings an end to the back and forth. He just got a call from the sheriff's office that Fangs in dead. They will mourn his death, but first they will honor him. So, FP wants to put Penny's offer to a vote. Jughead is the only Serpent against going to war with the Ghoulies. The rest of the Serpents and Cheryl are for going to war, as they raise their hands and bend their fingers to simulate snake fangs. Later, at the trailer, Jughead tells FP that going to war with the Ghoulies is a mistake. For all they know, the Ghoulies outnumber them one hundred to one. FP exclaims that he is well aware of their chances. He's been a Serpent a lot longer than Jughead has. They voted and Jughead lost. That's the end of that. So if the Serpents are going down, they'll do so fighting. As far as being outnumbered, FP plans to rally the reserves. FP carries Jughead As the Serpents prepare for war, FP gets a call from Betty. He asks if she and Alice are alright, but Betty's only concern is Jughead, who FP claims is at the trailer. Betty's starting to worry about him after the call she got. It was almost as if he was saying goodbye. FP realizes that Jughead has sacrificed himself and asks Toni where Penny was hiding out. FP races over to Jughead's hangout and runs into the darkness to find him. FP comes out of the woods holding a lifeless Jughead in his arms. He has been beaten bloody and senseless, and his Serpent tattoo removed. FP at Jughead's bed side FP sits alongside Jughead as he lays unconscious in the hospital. Jughead then suddenly wakes up. Some days have passed since Jughead was attacked and left for dead by Penny, Malachai and the Ghoulies. What Jughead did brought every Serpent FP had ever known out of the woodwork and Jughead would've been proud of them. It looked like they were going to win the war with the Ghoulies, but in the end, there were too many of them. When Jughead questions why the Serpents waged war against the Ghoulies despite his deal with Hiram Lodge, FP explains that he wanted to avenge him. As did the other Serpents, who were churned up about Jughead and Fangs' demise. Even though Fangs is in fact alive. FP reveals that he lied when he told the Serpents that Fangs had died in the hospital. He only said it to rile them up for war. FP then reveals that Sunnyside Trailer Park fell, and while their trailer is still standing, most of them burned. After the rumble, some of the Serpents defected. They joined the Ghoulies, others were arrested. More went into hiding, and the rest left town. The Serpents don't exist anymore. Nothing for Jughead to do but get better. And to be there for Betty, FP adds. FP drunk on the couch The following night, FP gets drunk and falls asleep on the couch. It seems that he has taken back up drinking as he's been fired from Pop's by Hiram. Regardless, they have more important matters to attend to, like the fact that FP lied about the Serpents no longer existing when in actuality, they need help as they have been forced into living at the Wyrm. FP counters that what the Serpents actually need is to get out of town as fast as they can. He wasn't lying when he said that it was over. FP informs Jughead that it is time for them to skip town and move to Toledo, with his mother, however, Jughead refuses to leave, as Betty and the Serpents need him. FP refuses to see what happened to Jughead at the hands of Penny and the Ghoulies happen again. So they're leaving town, but he tells Jughead to pack light as they're only taking the motorcycles. A couple days later, FP discovers that Fred has offered the Serpents asylum in his own home after learning that Sheriff Minetta was raiding the Wyte Wyrm with violent intentions. FP enters the Andrews' house, pleased with Jughead's determination to save the Serpents, so much so that he decides to hold off on leaving for Toledo given that the Bulldogs have gone out of their way in helping Serpents. FP retires from the Serpents Later that evening, FP calls for a meeting of the Serpents by the lake side. Jughead, Sweet Pea, Fangs, Toni and Cheryl are all in attendance. Along with all the remaining Serpents. More than 60 years ago, the very first Serpent meeting took place on the very same riverbanks in which they stand, FP explains. So it seems fitting that this is where they gather for FP's goodbye. He calls Jughead up onstage to announce that he's retiring from the Serpents, but that Jughead will take his place considering that he's never stopped fighting for the Serpents and almost died for them. Jughead tells FP that he loves him and that the Serpents won't die out while under his leadership. As his first official duty as Serpent King, Jughead is to grant Cheryl membership into the Serpents. He even gifts her with a custom red Serpent jacket. Cheryl puts on the jacket and is welcomed with open arms into the Serpents.

Season 3

A Wise Serpent

Three months have passed since FP retired as leader of the Southside Serpents. During Archie Andrews' trial, FP is showing his support to him with other friends and family sitting behind him in the court room.

FP advises Archie to protect his mind in juvenile detention

A few days later, FP is tattooing Archie's arm at the Serpent meeting spot by the lake side. He asks for Jughead's opinion on the tattoo he gave Archie as honorary member of the gang while removing his prescription glasses. Jughead sits near them, and explains to Archie that there would be other serpents in juvenile detention, and the tattoo will help him to roll with a crew to survive. However, FP points out that the Serpent ink will only help keep Archie's body safe. He still has worry about protecting his mind as it is the first thing that goes when you're locked up.

FP reminds Jughead why it means to be a Serpent

At Sunnyside Trailer Park, after telling Jughead that Dilton came by to see him, FP inquires about Hot Dog. Jughead replies that he's sleeping under the trailer, but he's bouncing back. FP is mainly concerned about how Jughead is holding on the pressure of being the leader of the Serpents. Jughead, then, opens up with his father, telling him that Penny's got the north side in her sights, Cheryl's a loose cannon and Betty is a target. And they're not even Southside Serpents anymore. But FP replies that Jughead's a Serpent by blood, and no one can take that from him. Archie then arrives outside to pick Jughead up.

FP promises Mary they'll bring Archie home

After Labor Day, while Jughead and FP prepare to head out for Archie's trial, Dilton shows up at the trailer. Later, FP is next to his friends in court when Archie pleads guilty and is sent to serve two years at Leopold and Loeb Juvenile Detention Center.

Back at the Andrews house, Mary prepares to leave for Chicago. She's already written the appeal and will file it from Chicago. Fred, Tom and FP assure Mary that they'll get Archie home  no matter what.

At Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe, FP and Tom are having breakfast and are joined by Fred after getting off the phone with Warden Norton. Veronica, who is working behind the counter, is relieved to hear that Archie has gone through processing and that he is fine. In other developments, Fred got a line on the three thugs that gave false testimonies against Archie. Tom is friends with the Sheriff over in Shadow county. They found remains of a campfire in the deep woods. Veronica is disgusted with the fact that while Archie's in jail those who gave a false testimony are camping. Not for long, FP replies. Until Archie's release, Veronica intends to keep everything in order at Riverdale High so that everyone knows he'll be back in time for Homecoming.

FP and Alice scold their children

At the Cooper house, Alice and FP confront Betty and Jughead as they arrive at the house after both receiving a call from Sheriff Minetta that Betty and Jughead were snooping around Ben's hospital room. Jughead believes that something strange is in the works. Dilton even came to him for help, which FP was present for. Jughead feels as if he owes Dilton but FP exclaims that Jughead doesn't owe him anything. As for Betty, Alice reminds her that this is exactly what Dr. Patel was referring to. If she keeps up this stressful behavior, she'll likely have another seizure, which neither FP nor Jughead were aware of. Alice blames Jughead for dragging Betty into murder investigations. As Betty takes off upstairs, FP and Jughead exit the Cooper house.

FP at the secret meeting

At Hermione's office at the Town Hall, FP joins Alice, Tom, Fred, Sierra, Hiram and Penelope for a secret meeting where Hermione reminds them of the vow they all made in high school. Fred questions why she is bringing this up now. Hermione briefly update them on recent events that haven't been made public yet. Two boys were found with blue lips in the woods and a Scout went missing. Now that Dilton is dead, Ben is in a coma and the Scout had been found safe and sound and likely willing to talk, it's just a matter of time before tracks lead investigators straight to them. To the secret that they buried all those years ago. Sierra asks why she hasn't simply called in Sheriff Minetta to make this go away. Hermione would like to but Jughead found the body and that's the concern. While FP and Alice talked with Jughead and Betty and told them to stop chasing this, they both know the kids will likely continue. Tom reminds everyone that they made a pact to never revisit that night. Not to mention it, not to even think about it. His vote is they stick to that. Unfortunately, they might not have that luxury. Not if it's happening again. Not if it's their children. All their children are in danger.

FP and Alice share intimate moments

Three weeks have passed since the secret meeting and the horrible deaths of Dilton and Ben. Alice and FP are in bed together and FP thanks the Farm for opening Alice to the possibility of the two of them finally being together. Alice chuckles, enjoying the moment but FP knows that with Jughead and Betty investigating, the matter is far from closed.

FP burns the "Scripture"

At Sunnyside Trailer Park, Alice and FP ransack the entire trailer in search of the guidebook of "Gryphons and Gargoyles". When Betty and Jughead arrive, they confront their kids. FP is extremely worried and shows his panic by grabbing Jughead by the collar of his jacket, asking if they are playing since he spotted his blue lips. Alice steps in, with the clear intention of preventing that FP spills further compromising information to their children about their past and involvement with the game. FP agrees and after making sure that the book they found is the only guidebook around, FP runs out of the trailer and throws the book into a bonfire, followed by Jughead and Betty that are totally shocked by that desperate attempt to keep them away from the truth.

Physical Appearance

FP would best be described as a tall man, around 6'0" in height, with a muscular build. He is a handsome older man with short, black hair, and light brown eyes. Being the leader of the Southside Serpents, he often wears a black leather jacket, with the gang's double-headed serpent symbol printed on the back of it. While he has been known to typically grow out a beard, FP has taken up the clean-shaven appearance as of late.

Personality

While he is admittedly an alcoholic, deadbeat dad, FP cares deeply for his family. The stress of losing his job at Andrews Construction weighed heavily on him and so he relied heavily on alcohol to cope, which subsequently led to the separation of his family. This isn't to say that he doesn't care for them, but quite the opposite. In order to provide for his family, FP became involved in criminal activities.

His son, Jughead, is all he has left at the moment, he'd do almost anything for him, even if it meant jail time for himself, such as threatening or even attacking the local Sheriff. He has also shown a violent side, as when he heard Jughead was being interrogated by the Sheriff, he got furious and wanted to go and lash out at Sheriff Keller, only for his son to ask him to stop and not to make things worse.

Jughead Jones

FP promising Jughead he'll change

Jughead and FP's relationship may have started out strained, but over the course of the series, they grew closer as Jughead tried to mend things with his father. Due to FP's alcoholism, the Jones family were forced to move out, as Jughead found shelter at the Twilight Drive-In. Unfortunately, now that the drive-in was now closed, Archie offered to help, as well as get his father a job back at Andrews Construction. FP reluctantly agreed after Jughead paid him a visit at the trailer. Following Jughead's interrogation at the Sheriff Station, unfairly accused of Jason's murder one morning, FP arrived, furious at the sheriff for falsely accusing his son of murder. Jughead convinced his father to let it go, and before FP left, he vowed to get his act together so that his family could return.

Fred Andrews

FP and Fred have been friends for a long time now ever since they were both in high school. They once worked together at Andrews Construction until FP's family got separated and he becomes a liability for the company due to his alcoholism and such. A few years after with Jughead trying to fix things with his family, he had his friend Archie talk to his father about offering FP back his old job. Luckily Fred was willing to take another chance on FP for Jughead and his family's sake. With FP trying to make great efforts for Jughead to be proud of him, Fred and FP decided to go by Pop's Diner with their boys for dinner with FP wanting to pay for their meal after they were done.

Alice Cooper

FP and Alice at Pop's

Alice and FP have known each other for many years. There was a time when just like FP, Alice was a member of the Southside Serpents, however, that was during her adolescence. For reasons unknown, Alice later left the Serpents, cutting all ties with them before crossing over to the Northside. During her early years, she lived on the Southside of Riverdale. While it is unknown if they were once friends or not, Alice and FP hold a great amount of disdain for one another, though this appears to be due to Alice's "holier than thou" attitude. Because FP still having ties with the Serpents, she often accuses him and his gang of any and all criminal activities that have been committed across town. Even though FP has admitted to Alice that he finds her attractive, he also points out that she is a stick in the mud. Due to their past history together, FP's at least aware of some of Alice's darkest secrets that were once part of her dark past. It was later revealed that Alice and FP did in fact have a high school romance, which resulted in Alice giving birth to a child that FP had no knowledge of up until recently. That child was given up for adoption at the Sisters of Quiet Mercy shortly after his birth. As of the third season, it appears they are currently in a relationship as they are seen in bed together.

Joaquin DeSantos

FP and Joaquin are connected via the Southside Serpents. It is currently unclear how far back their partnership goes but they are very loyal to one another. On July 11th, FP called Joaquin in the middle of the night, asking for his assistance with a cleanup job at the Whyte Wyrm. It was in the basement that Joaquin saw Jason Blossom's body laying on the ground with a bullet hole in his head. The two of them then disposed of the body and cleaned up the mess. He and Joaquin kept quiet about their involvement in the murder, while also keeping a close eye on the case via Kevin Keller, who FP had instructed Joaquin to forge a relationship with. In case things ever got bad, the two of them created a contingency plan, which consisted of a USB hid in Jason Blossom's varsity jacket. However, when FP was arrested, Joaquin got a call from FP, telling him to forget the plan as it was too dangerous.

Trivia

• In "Chapter Fifteen: Nighthawks", Pop Tate revealed that FP's favorite meal at Pop's are fried chicken, cornbread, onion rings and an orange freeze.
• FP's prison number was 24601, referencing the book (and several cinematic and musical adaptions) Les Misérables, where the main character, Jean Valjean, was sentenced to 19 years in prison for stealing a loaf of bread to feed his family. 24601 was his prison number.
• FP and Skeet Ulrich share the same birthday; FP's birthday is shown on his mugshot.
• FP is one of the show's few antagonists to be redeemed.

Notes

• In Archie Comics, he made his first appearance in Archie's Pal Jughead #8, released October 1st, 1951.
  • Jughead's dad is almost exclusively featured in the various series named after Jughead, where he's named Forsythe Pendleton Jones, Jr. Although, due to inconsistencies across iterations, he's sometimes named Victor or Timothy or, simply, Mr. Jones.
  • He's generally depicted as a thin, middle-aged man with incipient baldness, black mustache and he's generally resigned to his nonsensical son who he'd wish to be more like Archie or Reggie. This is explained as Forsythe seeing too much of himself in his son and wishing a different life for him.
• A recurring theme across Archie Comics focused on Jughead is that of Forsythe Jones struggling with his job and being unable to sustain his family.
